M: Tell me, you used to be an actress, didn’t you?
W: Used to be? I still am. I haven’t retired yet. I’ve just started in a new play.
M: Really! How long have you been acting?
W: For the last fifty years. I’ve also been a singer and a dancer.
M: Are audiences different from what they used to be?
W: Oh yes, they used to be much ruder than they are now. They used to shout and booh.
I remember once forty years ago they threw tomatoes at the actors.
But now they’ve become very polite and the theatre’s become less exciting.
M: Have you done everything that you wanted to in your life?
W: No, I haven’t. I’ve never been to Hollywood.
M: Well, good luck. I hope you’ve enjoyed coming here tonight.

Claire has got to be calm
Claire has got to be calm. Claire works as an air hostess.
Every day she has to wear a uniform. Claire has got to be calm.
She has to make the passengers feel comfortable.
Please can I have some Coca-Cola? Yes, all right. Here you are.
And she has to serve meals.
May I have another cake, please? No, I think you’ve had enough!
Claire has got to be calm. But she doesn’t have to cook anything.
Claire used to work in a bank. She didn’t have to wear a uniform then,
but she had to start work at the same time every day
and she always had to work in the same place. She didn’t have to be calm.
Now the plane has serious engine trouble. Claire has got to be calm.
The pilot has got to make an emergency landing.
Can I have a biscuit please? Yes, of course.
Claire has got to be calm. The passengers have got to put on their life-jackets.
Claire has got to be calm: she doesn’t have to clean the plane in the airport.
Thank you very much, dear!
